The Thorens TD 125 is the high-end classic model from the late 60's – early 70s. It is a top quality instrument which will deliver incomparable musical performance and protect your records for years to come. The TD126 that followed offered even more electronic sophistication, including (again with original Thorens arm) semi-automated arm and start-stop functions.

I got this Thorens TD 125 MKII from my brother for free, and he got it for free when someone was tossing out some junk. Thank goodness I got it! When the old BSR proved to have channel problems that couldn't be easily fixed, I swapped the Shure cartridge over to the Thorens (that had a broken needle).

2010-10-07 · The TD-125 was, in my opinion, the far better turntable, with a more stable and 'focussed' sound, as well has having all the 'tune-playing' abilities of the ol' fruitbox. Still, it was a valuable learning curve. Enjoy the Thorens - it's a quality T/T. Marco.
The TD 125 (which superseded the TD 124 and TD 124 Mk2) uses the belt drive/swinging chassis principle which was originally designed by Mitch Cotter from Acoustic Research. The TD 125 is a very good turntable. The TD 125 Mkii has different (improved) electronics and is tops.
